JOB #2 - THINKING QUESTION
Why do you think Farquhar attempted to sabotage the bridge even though he knew there was a really low chance of escaping if he did? If you were in his shoes, would you sabotage the bridge with the very low percentage chance of getting away undetected?
Job #3 - Literature Connections His hallucination reminded me of a time when I was playing an air soft war with some of my friends and my brother. While I was hiding behind a wall thinking of something daring to do to help win the war when when I felt a stunning blow to the back of my neck. (No joke!) I didn't pass out or anything, thankfully. It turns out that a 0.2g air soft BB (a pretty heavy bullet) fired from a sniper rifle slammed into the back of my neck traveling at a speed of 550 FPS (feet per second) at nearly point blank range.
I'm not sure that Fahrquhar thought it was a very low percentage of getting out. He probably had the mind set of "It would never happen to me, I'm too good." Which we all have from time to time, he also didn't know he was walking into a deadly trap. As for me, I think it would be hard to choose what I would've done. I might've gone to destroy it for glory, but then again I'm not a very risky person. So I am unsure what I would've done.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Alyssa. I'm not very risky either; I was curious if you, Bryce, Summer, or Alivia would have done the same thing if any of you were in his shoes. (P.S. I know, I spelled his name wrong.)
ReplyDeleteNice question, Dylan!
DeleteFahrquhar just thought about escaping and freeing his hands. He didn’t actually attempt it. He was hung right after he thought of an escape method.
ReplyDeleteI think that because he was not able to serve in the military as he wished, he may have looked for every other opportunity given, to fight for his side. So, in seeing this opportunity , he might have impulsively taken it, without much thought of being captured. I think if I were in Farquhar's shoes, I would probably be overthinking all the dangers, and finally decide not to go unless I had backup men with me.
ReplyDeleteI like that answer, Alivia. I also wouldn't have gone without some other people to help me if I ran into trouble like he did.
